Have you ever had trouble creating ATC’s with metal embellishments?
When I was first starting to create artist trading cards, I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. Everyone had beautiful vintage styled cards with fancy stuff on them. I was a little overwhelmed with the cost of a lot of this stuff, especially the embellishments. Fast forward to now and I’m happy to say the overwhelmed as for nothing. Use what you have, create what you want and just have fun doing it.
I’m going to share some easy ways to create ATC’s with metal embellishments so you can get the biggest bang for your buck. If you like to play with Fimo, have die-buts or stickers, you can use these too. You don’t have to create ATC’s with metal embellishments and in fact, I’ll be sharing in a few days how to create ATC’s with thin cardboard embellishements.

Ready to Make This?
What did you think?
Do you have any metal embellishments in your stash? If you counted, how many ATC’s could you make with what you have? Share in the comments below.
would look great with any background
Yes it would.
Love the orange colours and great embellishments
Thank you Sheila
You continue to be a blessing to us all. Thank you.
Thanks Debby!
I was inspired to try one of these and to use RED instead of blue. LOL
How did it turn out Annie?
I like them all but that one with the key really shines.
The key was really brassy and when I tinted it with the alcohol ink, it took on a really nice colour.
Congrats Patricia, one of the ATC’s will be on it’s way to you tomorrow! Hope you like it.
As always I liked the project =) If I would use all the metal embellishments I have in my stash, I probably could create around 150 ATCs… I loooove metal thingies, especially keys and steampunk =) Only problem is I am not creating at all at the moment, just can´t get started on anything =(
Here is a challenge for you. Take 3 ATC bases. Grab a handfull of embellishments.. don’t pick, just grab a handful and put it on your table. Grab something with texture, such as paper towel and use gesso to glue it down. Then build and paint. For a printed quote use: “take 1” , “take 2”, “take 3” and glue it on. Voila!
I have been trying to create something very similar to this and I’ve learned so much from this video. Thank you!
Hi Laine, glad you learned from the video. I hope to see a picture of what you create.
I love the color, i think this would be very pretty for anyone, I would be blessed to have this. thanks for the opportunity.
Glad you liked it Heidi!
I stumble as I try to make ATC’s I have yet to make one that I am pleased with. After seeing yours and instructions on how and you youtube video I am feeling l can start making them nice and feel free to send them t many of my FIB’s
What is giving you trouble with making them? is it the colour or how things are organized on it. As artists, it’s common to be critical of our own work…I bet your ATC’s look amazing.
I haven’t made an ATC for a while, but working on a journal for a big trip in the spring, and I usually include several. Also, loving the orange color!
You could make extra pages in your journal on your trip and use those as cutouts onto your ATC’s when you get back. Orange isn’t my favourite colour, but layering it works for me 🙂
I have metal embellishments and was at a loss of what to do with them. my husband has even taken watches apart for me. I now know what to do, thanks Gisele. I will be trying.
Hi Dawn, ok, tell your husband to send the watch pieces my way! that stuff is golden girl! Cluster them around your focal point, use them as flowers, sticks, borders…. dry fit to see what it looks like and have fun doing it 🙂
Congrats Dawn, one of the ATC’s will be on it’s way to you tomorrow! I hope you like it.
WOW! Sadly, no embellishments, so number is zero here, but just wow.
what about old buttons, postage stamps, hair pins, keys and stuff like that?
These are very inspiring! I’m definitely going to try these. Thanks for the inspiration!
Would love to see a picture of what you create!
Love your ATCS and I am going to try your technique 🙂
Thank you Susan, I’d love to see what you create.
These are colors that I rarely use but I’m inspired to give them a try. Thanks.
It’s healthy to go outside your comfort zone 🙂
