In this video lesson, I will show you how to make an art journal out of a single sheet of watercolour paper that is 22″x30″. The video lesson in the next post will be making the same type of journal, but out of recycled newspapers.
I thought I’d revive this post due to the new Book of Background series starting up. With the Dark Side of Vintage Project done a couple of years ago, the first covered off was the different types of art journals you can use. As with all projects, if you don’t want to do the project in an art journal, that is totally fine, you can create the project as a series on masonite, canvas, mixed media paper.. whatever you want.
In this video, I show you how to do a very basic bookbinding technique with Terra Skin and accent your journal or book with copper tape.
How to create an art journal from your weekly newspaper flyers that most call “junk mail”. You can use this technique to make an art journal or to create an alternative support for regular textured painting or multi-media.
I have detailed videos on my blog and YouTube Channel on how to make Coptic stitched art journals with and without covers. This video is more about a quick introduction on making a tiny journal (2.5″ x 3.5″) which is what I was using for the “365 Art a Day Challenge” I was hosting.
Not an instructional how to, but more of what you can do to make your journal a bit more sturdy if you are using thin paper, such as drawing paper.
