I’m not a gardener, not by a long shot. I am in awe of the beautiful gardens and landscapes I see on the Mountain, so luscious with just the right amount of colour.
Joe and I decided to make over our patio, so flowers were not even in the picture. Allergies and Mia chasing bees were also a factor. So we opt-ed to just work with succulents in a custom planter he made and everything else was tomatoes and onions.
How can I add colour to the garden without buying flowers or buying Joe’s favourite garden knomes? How about painting some tumbled stones!
With everything being green, a great choice is painting something red and the first thing I thought about was a lady bug. Not only can this be painted quickly, you don’t need any special supplies, other than some acrylic paints and outdoor varnish.
If you have some youngsters nearby, it’s a great activity for them as well.
A takeaway tip is if you like painting on stones, do all the prep work at the same time. Batching this step will save you time and energy during the creative stage.
